Red Gurnard

Red gurnard inhabit much of the Australian coastline, ranging from sandy bays and estuaries to a depth of 200 meters. The Red gurnard’s brightly colored pectoral fins look remarkably similar to a butterfly’s wings and are thought to be used to startle prey.
